Friday Faves #11 {Pumpkin Edition}

I knew once I found my first two favorites this week that this would most likely be a pumpkin kind of post. And no doubt, it was pumpkin all around. So I hope you ate already, otherwise you might wind up starving by the time you finish looking over all these posts. I’m pretty sure my family will be sick of pumpkin if I dont slow down on the pumpkin madness, which I don’t plan to do.

Pumpkin Spice Quinoa Breakfast Cookies from Skinnytaste: What makes you the coolest mom in the world? Telling your kids they can cookies for breakfast. And what makes you a happy mom? Knowing that these “cookies” are not only good for you but are pumpkin cookies. It sounds like a total win-win to me. And not only can these be for breakfast, but they can make a pretty awesome snack too. These are going on my baking list soon and I’m pretty sure that 12 will not be enough in my house.

Pumpkin Protein Fudge from The Fitnessista: So, when you tell me I can have a fudge as post-workout snack, you have just given me a sure-fire motivator to get out the door. I mean, come on, it’s fudge. And if you tell me it’s pumpkin fudge, Ive already changed and am in my running shoes before you finished your sentence.

Pumpkin Pie Protein Overnight Oats from The Dashing Dish: I LOVE overnight oats. I can prepare it the night before, and not doing anything in the morning, except eat it (and well drink my coffee). It’s perfect for mornings I may be rushed to get out the door, which truthfully doesn’t happen often, so let’s say it’s perfect for lazy mornings. I really love how there’s a bit of protein in this which will be great for workout days. And you know, I already have all of the ingredients, maybe I’ll make this tonight; although I only have chocolate protein. Think it will still be OK?

Pumpkin Spice Latte Protein Smoothie from Carrots N Cake: Do I really need to go into an explanation about this? I mean it’s a pumpkin spice latte and a smoothie and has protein in make it THE perfect post-workout snack. I’m in!!!!

Oatmeal Pumpkin Cookies from Budget Bytes: I LOVE oatmeal cookies!! I think they are just fabulous. I don’t have them often which could be a reason I love them that much more, making a very special treat. But these have pumpkin! Yes, please!!!

Well that about sums up this week’s faves. What are some of your favorite blog posts you have read throughout the week?

Friday Faves #8

Cashew Brownie Batter Bites from Fitnessista: Before I even read this post, I knew this would be a pin just based off the title. Cashews + Brownie Batter = WIN!!!!! These look amazing (as do most things Gina makes) and I have most of these ingredients already. I’m missing a few but nothing I can’t pick up at the grocery store this weekend!

Ultimate Workout Playlist from Honey We’re Healthy: Megan wasn’t kidding when she said she put together the ultimate playlist. In this post, she shares 60 (yes, I said 60!!!) songs that are sure to give you variety in your workout playlist. You seriously have to check out her list!

This Video Will Convice You To Ditch Your Cell Phone from Greatist: I shared this post on facebook and twitter yesterday but it’s totally worth sharing again. We have become a world dependent on technology, mainly our cell phones. We do it so much that it sometimes affects our real-life relationships. It has definitely made me think about starting a technology-free or at least cell phone- free night once a week.

The T-Shirt Towel Swap from Lauren Conrad: This is a super short, very easy beauty tip that I don’t want to say to much about, because I want you to click on the link and check it yourself. And it totally be somthing I will be trying. Do I have you intrigued yet? 😉

35 Healthy Ways To Have the Healthiest School Year Ever from Greatist: Serioulsy, Greatist has some really fantastic posts. If you’re new to the blog, you will learn how much I love the Greatist site. They are frequent guests on my Froday Faves, and if you’ve been here for a while, then you already know how much I love them. While the title of this post doesn’t necessarily pertain to me (I’m not in school), I was intrigued to see what they had to say. And what they had to say doesn’t just apply to students; it can apply to everyone. These tips (and links to other information) are truly fabulous! I could devote a whole post to just how awesome this post is, but I won’t takeup your time doing that. Instead, I want you to click on the link and read it for yourself. It’s totally worth your time.

Friday Faves #7

Cheddar and Smoky Cherry Panini from Happy Healthy Mama: This sandwich looks SO good it’s making me hungry, and I just ate….10 minutes ago! Seriously, I’m drooling over this thing so much my computer might just short out. I’m a sucker for a good hot sandwich. I think I’ll be adding this to our menu ASAP!

Running While Pregnant from Food, Fitness and Family: No, I’m not pregnant but I think this is a fabulous post for anyone that is. Madeline shares some of tips that’s she’s picked up while running during pregnancy. A must read for anyone who is, or thinking about, becoming pregnant

Foods You Need In Your Diet from Lauren Conrad: I don’t know about you, but I love knowing (most of the time) that what I’m eating is good for me. In this post Team LC share some of the best foods to put in your diet (if they aren’t already) and why. I am happy to report almost all of these are included in my diet, with the exception of steel cut oats, (I have regualr ones and kale (I really need to jump on that train).

Microwave Sweet Potato Muffin from The Lean Green Bean: This makes me smile. I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes and like to cook it with meals. I almost always have leftovers because TJ and Jordyn aren’t huge fans of it. On top of using my leftovers on this delicious lunch, I now have another option for how to use my leftovers. Yu

Retraining Our Brains from Blueberry Smiles: I seriously think this is my favorite post of the week. Don’t get me wrong, the other posts rock, but this post is about our mental wellness and retraining our brains to focus on the positive. Rebecca shares her thoughts along with a video you MUST watch. The video is 12-13 minutes long but totally worth it and the guy is funny. If you watch it, please, please, please share your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think!

That about wraps up this week’s Friday Faves!

Friday Faves is back! I know you’re super excited. I am excited to have it back. I love sharing such fabulous blog posts from around the blogosphere.

Edible Flowers from Sustainable Baby Steps: OK, before you get all wierd on me for a minute, just take a moment to think about all the other plants we eat (hello, cucumber, carrots, potatoes, and tomatoes). While this is a bit unconventional, I was intrigued by the title of the post and even more interested as I read it. Who knew so many of our garden flowers were edible.

13 Unexpected Ways To Fit Cardio Into Your Routine from Greatist: We all know how crazy life can get at times and that can make fitting cardio time in tough. Greatist is here to share some fun ways to make sure you fit a little cardio into your life

Blueberry Pie Oatmeal Parfait from Dashing Dish: Umm…..I want this….NOW!!! Everytime I look at it, I want it. I will be making this deliciously looking breakfast soon, once I pick up some blueberries and vanilla greek yogurt

Move It Monday: Getting PHAT from Best Body Bootcamp: So just the “PHAT” reference alone makes me want to share this post. Tina brought back all kinds of memories from the days when calling someone “PHAT” not “fat” was cool, well for me she did anyway. What does PHAT mean here? Peripheral Heart Action Training. What does that mean? Check out Tina’s post (I can’t share all the juicy parts of her post) and while you’re there check out her pretty PHAT workout too!

Dreamy Dark Chocolate Scones from Peas and Crayons: When your husband walks by you while looking at a new recipe and then stops and comes back and says, “Make that! Make that now.” And then insists you literally stop what you’re doing to pick up the missing ingredients from the grocery store, you know it’s a post you have to share. This is that post. He and my son are begging me to make this. Guess, I should head to the store and by the ingredients for these amaingly delicious looking scones. Warning: You will be craving these (or at least chocolate) after looking at this post.

Awesome August Workout from Fitnessista: If you have never checked out Gina’s blog, you totally should. She post some great recipes and some amazing workouts, like this one. I have this pinned and will be trying this soon.

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent from Hometalk: It’s like they knew I was looking for a dishwasher detergent recipe. We are pretty much out of our store bought detergent, and I already have the ingredients on hand. Fingers crossed it works!

27 Unexpected Foods To Grill This Summer from Greatist: Summer is here (well the unofficial beginning of summer anyway) and with comes the use of the grill. If you’re like our household, you’ve already busted out the grill on a few occassions and summertime means grilling out at every possible opportunity. During the summer, I constantly have TJ grill our dinners. And now Greatisit is sharing even more foods to try on the grill. Some of these are ones we’ve tried already and others we would have never thought of (grilled pound cake anyone?) If the grill is your main appliance to cook on over the summer, you should give this post a read. And if it isn’t? Well, you should read this anyway.

Top 5 Herbs from Jessie Loves To Run: Most of us use herbs when we cook for flavor. And a lot of us know that are good for us for a number of reasons. What you may not know are exactly which herbs have what benefits. In this post, not only does Jessie share her Top 5 Herbs but also shares each herb’s benefits along with some really tasty (and alcoholic) drinks for them. This post is a sure winner for summer parties and drinks.

How To Be A Better Spouse and Recipe To Please from Cotter Crunch: Lately, i have been trying to find little ways to show TJ how much I appreciate what he does for myself and our family, so this post immediately caught my attention. I consider myself a pretty good spouse but am by no means perfect, so when I see a post about ideas or tips that you can do be a better spouse, I’m all for it. Lindsay’s tips were really great. All of them are small things you can do to be a better spouse.

Is Grilling Bad for Your Health? from Greatist: I almost didn’t want to read this post. I literally just typed how much we love to grill out at our house and how excited I was about Greatist’s other post on unexpected foods to grill, and then I stumble upon this one. But curiousity (and the fact that Greatist has some super informative posts) got the better of me. The post explains why grilling can be bad and then also suggests some steps to take to help avoid those nasty carcinogens. And I’m happy to say, some of these I do already. Points for me!

Spring & Summer Workout Tips from Jessie Loves To Run: My girl Jessie is on a roll this week with another post in my Friday Faves! With it getting hotter and hotter outside, outdoor workouts can be difficult. Jessie shares favorite tips for beating the heat, and getting in a good workout. My favorite tip? Her suggestion about swimming. It is BY FAR my favorite workout over the summer. If only there was a pool in my neighborhood. For now, I’ll settle for the 45 minute drive to the beach!

Girl On Fire 10K Training Mix: FREE!!! from Katie Widrick: I admit that most often when I run I listen to podcasts but when I need a break from them, it’s some good music. In this post Katie shares a 10K training mix that she created with Rock My Run (which if you have never checked out, it’s totally worth it. They have some pretty fabulous playlists). And best of all it’s free!!!

Spicy Ginger Chicken and Coconut Rice from The Fitness Dish: If you now me, I’m a wuss when it comes to anything spicy but I have been working on broadening that horizon some and it’s nothing that a glass of milk can’t help. lol! Besides, TJ is a huge spicy fan so I know he’ll appreciate my branching out and trying this dish. But what’s intrigued me the most about this recipe is the coconut rice. I love coconut and I love rice and with the two combined it’s sure to be a win.

How To Get Arms Like Michelle Obama  from The Fitnikchick: Admit it, you know you want her arms. Who doesn’t? I dream of Michelle Obama arms. Tamara not only shares a workout to help achieve those amazing arms, but also shares some other tips that can help that process too. I’m totally adding this to workout routine. You should too!!!!

15 Sneaky Duck Tape Hacks For Better Health and Fitness from Greatist: Just reading the title of this post made me giggle. Oh duct tape! People are always finding ways to make it more useful. Upon reading this article, I became extremely intrigued to try a few  of these, especially the no-slip socks. hahaha!!! In all seriousness though, I do think some of these rock and will try them out.

It’s OK To Let Life Get In The Way Of Fitness from Best Body Fitness: I knew the moment I read the title of this post that I was 99% sure this would end up on today’s Friday Faves post. I don’t know how many times I have looked at my day or the coming days and thought to myself , “How am I going to fit in a workout today?” And I won’t lie, sometimes, I just blow it off and make the day a “rest” day, but there are many times that I tell myself that while I wanted to get in a 60 minute workout, a 20-30 minute one is better than nothing, so I get out there and get it done. Tina shares her thoughts about when her life gets to busy. A definite MUST read!

Homemade Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt from Chocolate Covered Katie: There’s not much to say about this post, other than YUM!!!! A few months ago, I tried Peanut Butter FroYo at one of our local FroYo shoppes. And I was in heaven, and to be honest missing it. It was delicious. And now I can make it home! It’s a good day!

Friday Faves

Happy Friday everyone! Just a few more hours until the weekend officially starts! WAHOO!!!!

All week long, I read some pretty fabulous articles across the internet (and in my Google reader). They range from recipes, fitness tips, workouts, nutrition info and inspiring stories. With so many great reads out there, I’d thought I’d share some of my favorites.

My goal is to do this each week, but let’s be honest, life happens and sometimes things don’t always work out the way we plan, so there may be a few weeks that I don’t have a post due to hectic schedules and busy lives. I also have no set goal on how many posts I’ll share. I know that some weeks, I’ll have loads to share, while others I may only find a few that strike me. In any case, check out some of my favorite posts from the week.

Maybe mixed in with some pasta, or eggs, or try I’ll try out Tamara’s Hungarian Mushroom Soup She shares in the post.

And with this shirt comes an interview with the man wearing the shirt. Danielle had me cracking up at parts of her post, along with Thomas’s responses. I honestly have never read Danielle’s blog before but if they’re all light-hearted and can make me laugh and giggle like this one, you might find me reading more.
